Alcohol Ink Artworks

All of my artworks are created using Alcohol Inks. Alcohol Ink is laid on to the medium in a highly diluted format using Isopropyl Alcohol. Because the use of this type of ink in fine art is relatively new, there is no historical evidence to estimate the archival properties of the inks used in this way. Although we coat the originals with several coats of UV protective varnish, there are no firm guarantees as to its’ longevity. There can often be subtle changes to colours during the varnishing process as a result of chemical reactions.

Although I will always make the originals available for sale, all of the artworks for sale on this site are Giclee (High resolution inkjet) prints. These prints are reproduced using a high quality digital scanner and printed using pigment inks onto exceptionally high quality fine art lustre archival paper. The most significant benefit is that theses prints are not only indistinguishable from the original, they are guaranteed to retain their vibrancy and colour for many decades. Although the printing costs are still very high, the artworks are still very affordable.

Since I started my journey, I have had so much feedback about naming my works, some good, some not so good. My own feeling is that how you see an individual artwork is so different to how someone else might see it.

You will see things in the artwork that someone else won’t, you may not see what someone else is seeing.

The definition of colour and form is subjective and very personal; with that in mind, please feel free to name your artwork as you feel you should.
